Mamori Tokonome, a naive 16-year-old girl, used to being teased at school for having an unfortunate last name. It can also be read as « virgin ». However, young Mamori will soon have to get used to being teased in other ways. Kidnapped during gym class, Mamori wakes up to find herself stranded and attacked on the exotic Mermaid Island. Fortunately, the enigmatic castaway Mirei Shikishima knows exactly how to take the lead.

Through a passionate kiss, Mirei unleashes Mamori’s Exter transformation abilities, transforming the innocent redhead into a battle-ready cutlass through the power of arousal. The duo will have to tap into that power as Mermaid Island is teeming with potential friends and foes: Charlotte, the sadistic liberator of an Exter harem; the greedy and cunning Meifon; the mysterious but charismatic Akira Hiiragi; and the erotic biker duo Lady Lady. Mamori and Mirei’s powerful and intimate embrace is the only way the couple can ensure their survival on this outrageous island.

Valkyrie Drive is a cross-media franchise created by Marvelous and Kenichiro Takaki announced at the March 2015 AnimeJapan convention. The franchise consists of three projects: Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, a television series produced by Arms Corporation which debuted on October 10, 2015 Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni, a PlayStation Vita and PC game developed by Tamsoft. And Valkyrie Drive: Siren, a social game developed by Mobage and GREE.
