In Japanese folklore, the ayakashi is a supernatural creature reincarnated from a spirit. Ginko is a prostitute vixen in the sulphurous district of Yoshibara. One day, the beauty turns her attention to a young peddler. She realizes that it is the child who saved her life many years ago. Surprisingly, she still has strong feelings for him; as an ayakashi, real love cannot be tolerated with a mere mortal, hence his sudden demise at the time. Thus follows a night of pleasure of a courtesan hiding her identity from the eyes of the world and of a human with an unalterable faith.

Seductive Ginko spends her days in Yoshibara’s red-light district, pleasing men for money. One day, a traveling peddler catches Ginko’s attention. She realizes that years ago he was the boy who saved her life. As well as the very first human she saw and the object of her affections. The problem is that Ginko is a fox spirit called Ayakashi, and his love for Yuujiro is indeed forbidden.

Knowing that she couldn’t be with Yuujiro for her own safety, Ginko ran away and ended up as a courtesan. Meanwhile, Yuujiro, who has never forgotten Ginko, has become a traveling peddler so he can search for and find her. Finally reunited, Ginko allows herself a night of pleasure and happiness, a forbidden meeting with the man she loves.
