There is no need for relationships. Kei Ogata carried with him a trying and sad past. His only joy in life was chatting and emailing as a different person on the Internet. One day, he met a nice, sweet girl online named Eve, and became friends with her. Over time, they began to share a strong bond of friendship. Then the other day, Kei started to suspect that his classmate Midori was Eve. The summer festival has passed. Kei struggles with his own past, trying not to become the monster he hated so much.

In society, everyone wears masks. Masks that we hope to personify a certain character, whether in the real world or in the cyber world. However, behind these masks lies our true identity which we rarely reveal, even to our closest relatives, if at all. Pure Mail seems to remind us of the scars, secrets and skeletons in the closet in which you or those around you may have hidden behind this mask.

Pure Mail dives deep psychologically and delivers an interesting story related to the topics of childhood abuse, neurotic behavior, internet anonymity and love. Although the story never loses the main thread, it does branch off a bit. Which is good for introducing some side characters as well as getting to know different aspects of Ogata’s personality. There are a number of interesting female characters who have an air of charm. The sadistic Megane, the childhood friend with a crush, the little sister’s friend who needs help, and the nice girl with a dark past.
